Viewing multiple models in the Power BI Viewer

Hi there,

We are trying to use a slicer to switch between different models from different projects in the Power BI Viewer, by using the model URLs in the slicer to filter the Viewer.

Currently the Model URL, Version Object ID and Object ID of the different models are in one table. When trying to visualise the models in the viewer, the viewer is blank.

We’ve tried the solution provided in this link: Multiple models (Revit-IFC) can’t visualize on PowerBI - Help - Speckle Community. The viewer ends up showing both models overlayed after using the slicer more than once.

Is it possible to use a slicer to switch between different models in the viewer?

Are you currently using the Next-Gen Power BI connector? If so, please note that our 3D Visual does not support visualizing federated models in a single visual.

If you want to switch between different models, I recommend using Power BI parameters. This allows you to provide a set of Model URLs that you can load and visualize in Power BI.

If you are using the legacy Power BI connector (version 2.20.1), please be aware that there are limitations when it comes to interacting with federated models and slicers/other visuals. Development for the legacy Power BI connector has been discontinued, and we are currently focusing on the Next-Gen Power BI connector.
