So to help estimate a possible demand for Mac Support, here a thread to out you as Mac Users.
So I’ll start.
OS :
macOS 15 Sequoia latest
Apple ARM
Apps :
Blender
Bricscad
Vectorworks
Twinmotion
I was wondering the same about the new connectors.
Another macOS user here
Apps:
Archicad 28
Blender
Rhino
Great !
For a few days I thought I am the only one. Now we are at least two Mac users - vs millions of Revit Windows users
Here a message for a small-medium architectural firm running in Mac. AND using Rhino, Grasshopper, ARCHICAD and Twinmotion. We might be a unicorn…
I am pledging here for 10 users!
Looking forward to see more users here
Hi there!
Add me (and us, 13 architects strong) to this list.
For reference @j.beneitez - we might be a duocorn(?) in this.
macOS, Archicad, Rhino / Grasshopper, Twinmotion and some other stuff.
Hi,
Small facade engineering firm here and we develop our plugin in RH GH Mac, 5 Rhino Mac users here.
apps:
-Rhino 8 Mac
-ARES commander Mac (CAD)
Hi another Mac user over here that would appreciate new Mac Connectors
Rhino
Grasshopper
Hi there!
We’re an other small facade engineering firm (shoutout to Jack)
-Rhino 7 and 8 for Mac
-ArchiCAD
To collaborate with architects in Switzerland a Mac Connector is crucial as the Swiss architects mostly use Mac
Hi,
We’ve got a whole office of Mac users in NL (40+ architects ) who would really appreciate next gen connectors support.
-Archicad
-Rhino 8 + Grasshopper
-SketchUp
Another Mac,
ArchiCAD user here too
Hi,
currently a university student and also a mac user (Rhino8, Grasshopper, Blender, Archicad). Roughly a third (if not more) of all architecture students here at my uni are using mac machines during their studies. Macs aren’t the costly alternative to windows anymore, they provide solid ground for a very robust workflow whilst being on the move from class to workspace. Even most institutes do recommend them, as a lot of them migrated their workflow to the mac. Its price to performance ration (whilst also being easy to manage) is hardly comparable to windows machines right now. Most students don’t even work with programs that are windows-only. Rhino (+Grasshopper), Archicad and the adobe suite are the main tools being used here (excluding the archVis programmes).
We do have a lot of classes, where we work on group projects. For that speckle could be a go-to platform, if all members of a group could use it on their machines. I would argue that if students don’t come into contact with speckle during their studies, the probability of them using speckle later on at work would decrease.
Thank you for your message @lentilsoup !
Hey! I’m also a Mac user…
We are a Mac house using ArchiCAD and Rhino with occasionaly Blender. We have not decided to use Speckle because of the lack of Mac support with its connectors. We are still seeking a solution for our OS platform of choice to coordinate and collaborate with other 3d Visualizers, Engineers, and Designers. Our industry desperately needs something to solve this tower of bable environment.
Certainly, we need Speckle’s next-generation connectors to be available on Mac OS, as we require a streamlined way to integrate our design processes across different software (primarily with AutoCAD and Revit), especially from the Archicad side of things.
I will be making a strong call to make this a reality.
We are a company with over 50 architects.
The software we use includes:
- Archicad
- Rhino
- Blender
- AutoCAD
- Excel
Please make this happen!
Adding my name to the list of all Mac Users looking for next-generation connector support. Archicad, Rhino (7 & 8), Grasshopper, Blender, QGIS, & Excel especially.
