Introduce yourself 🙆

Hey all

I’m Jason. I work as a developer for a large engineering company in Australia focussing on scaling automation tools for the business.

I also have a background in civil engineering, specifically road design and have a lot of experience with the Autodesk APIs (AutoCAD and Civil 3d) but I am just getting started with Speckle and I am looking forward to see where it all ends up.

Cheers

Hi

My name is Elsa-Maria and I’m working as a BIM Specialist at constuction engineering and consulting company in Northern Finland.

I started to learn visual coding with Dynamo and Grasshopper to enrich BIM models and tryed to change some (boring and slow :grimacing:) methods in construction company where I was working at the time.

I would love to spend my days learnig to code but BIM coordination is my main job. I also make book illustrations and other art works when I have some extra time.

Hey Community!

My name is Pavol and I’ve recently joined Speckle as a Senior Product Manager :tada:

Deep in my heart, I’m an architect and I worked in the field for quite some time. I’ve always had a thing for 3D and computation which (surprise, surprise!) got me to computational design. I dived into Grasshopper, picked up Python and when I was at Populous,
I had a chance to work on envelopes for Olympic and Tottenham stadiums in London. Then I pivoted to product design and product management and I helped to develop 3D cloud applications in 3D Repo and ShapeDiver.

I’m based in lovely Vienna :coffee: In my play time, I like to cook something veggie either following a recipe or just my taste buds. Vegan adaptations of classic grandma dishes is great fun too. I also like to make music (or just noise) :metal:

See you around :slightly_smiling_face:

Good afternoon all!

It’s been a while I kept an eye on Speckle adventures but it’s now time I introduce myself. I’m Frédéric, currently located in Rennes, which is a lovely city in western France and keen to know and experience more about Speckle.

Day-to-day, I’m the manager of a structural and envelope engineering firm working with low-carbon, natural materials such as raw earth or straw with an inch of consulting and teaching here and there.

On the side, I’m the president for an non-profit organisation that shelters and welcomes people from all walks of life, and then giving them the opportunity to breathe and rebuild their life on sound foundations while contributing to the ecological transition. We manufacture earth-based construction materials and are currently working on a reclaimed construction materials shop.

Looking forward to contributing to the best of my abilities!

Hi myself Rajendra Meena, self-learned 3d artist cum 2d designer, have been using blender since 2.79 but actively indulged after following Blender guru 2.8 donut series, the way Blender-guru presented the power and dimensions of blender (modelling cup-plate, sculpting donut, texture painting its surface, particle system for spraying sugar cubes, animation) completely change my perspective about blender. but i am a 2d cad designer also so I have to use Autocad but as with any Autodesk product there is a strict limitation of data sharing even I don’t consider Revit a BIM environment but a Autodesk environment, i think now it is the time for AIM (Any Information Modelling) not BIM anyway after frustrating for 2 years I decided to reduce my dependency on Autodesk softwares because i realize that they hinder the creativity of the artist in a very cunning way so i decide to give rhino a try from last 6 months and i am enjoying this software’s power but the concepting of architecture with Hops Box-cutter ( Blender-addon) is very fast so i use blender for that, even will try grease pencil in near future but as we all know in architecture, whatever we design must be implemented on ground in physical form so rhino is the best choice. the only reason to use autocad in our office is the power of dynamic blocks for detailing but that is only a small advantage not a big issue. Anyway, i found speckle while searching for rhino to blender bridge or addon. after watching some tutorials, i found speckle and the reason to stick here is that I believe in well-educated community rather to have well-established organisation (Autodesk & Adobe clearly). i will also try to learn anything in my spare time that will help to contribute in our community, currently have no knowledge of coding but will start soon. now, this is all about me and i will start spending my time here. Thanks for your patience to read my story.

Welcome @Rajendra_Meena; great to have you here. :tada: :tada: :speckle:

Rhino to Blender is something we know a lot about, and happy to see you found us.

There are many ways to contribute to Speckle, not just code. Here on the community forum, if you can share cool things you have used Speckle for or describe the workflows you want to do with the multiple software we support, this helps the development direction of Speckle enormously. Also, we can all learn tips and tricks from each other! :student:

Hi everyone,

my name is Federico Borello, I’m an registered Architect (OAT and ARB), currently based in London.

I’ve been working for over 4 years in London as Senior Architect at Zaha Hadid Architects in the CODE group (Computation and Design), with a core focus on fabrication and structure aware geometries, robotic assisted manufacturing and 3d printing.

Since the end of 2021 I co-founded ENCODE - Design & Technology with my partner Massimiliano Manno, based in Sydney; we provide services of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Virtual Construction and Automation for the AEC industry.

I’m also Lecturer at UCL Bartlett BPro in London and I have taught numerous courses and conferences including AADRL (London), Bartlett BPro (London), Tonji University (Shanghai), CITA (Copenhagen), ACADIA (Austin).

I’m passionate about design-tech, code writing and problem solving in AEC; I came across Speckle few years back when it was at it’s infancy, i’m impressed by the great step forwards in the development, congratulations to everyone involved. We are starting to test Speckle on projects under construction specially for it’s web-based capabilities, commenting, queries etc… which support onsite/onfactory assembly and coordination.

Great to connect with you all!

Hi David, thanks for the kind words! It’s a pity you’re across the pond, but stay tuned for our next online community standup. It should happen early next month most likely.

Also, keep the bug reports coming!
