Following up on the Speckle and IFC.js Team Up announcement where IFC import functionality was introduced, I’m curious about the possibility of IFC export.
I’m currently working with Speckle2BIM objects from Rhino, and I’m looking to streamline my workflow by exporting these directly to IFC format. While there are existing Rhino-to-IFC exporters (Geometry Gym, Visual ARQ, MKS Beam), being able to export IFC directly from Speckle objects would allow for better automation of the process.
Is there any development or consideration for IFC export functionality? Since Speckle already handles BIM data structure through Speckle2BIM, I’m wondering if direct IFC export might be feasible.
While I’m aware that one alternative workflow could be sending the geometry to Blender and using BlenderBIM/BonsaiBIM to generate IFC, I’m particularly interested in a more direct path from Speckle objects to IFC
Any insights into current capabilities or future plans would be greatly appreciated!
