Speckle Unity 2.0, feedback wanted! 🤺

Hey community!

Let’s start 2021 with a tiny but positive announcement, we have a WIP Unity Connector:

It’s currently very simple, it just sends and receives meshes.

We’d like to hear from the Unity users and developers out there how they were using the 1.0 connector and how they would like to use the new one. This will help us structure its future development and functionalities.

There’s many many ways in wich AEC firms use Unity and we want to make sure to have all your use cases covered!

Thanks for your time today guys! I’ve updated the repo with the changes I hadn’t pushed last time, you should be able to run it yourselves now.

I have also created a few issues in the repo according to your feedback, feel free to comment on them if you’d like to contribute or just provide more insights.

Hi all! I’ve just pushed some updates to the unity connector:

  • progress reporting when sending & receiving
  • support for nested data structures going in & out
  • support for speckle metadata
  • basic support for materials

The sample scene has also been updated to show how multiple receivers and senders can be created in a scene.
