Revit to Speckle testing

I am using a large Revit Project which is hosted on ACC the base model is 536 MB, with the linked models it’s 3 GB and I am at the Create new model portion. I have selected the model name and pushed the create button which is now darker in color so I think it is doing something. I do not know if it’s creating a model on Speckle or if it’s frozen up. There was no selection option like on your videos from a year ago so I am assuming this newer version has the selection box. So, a couple of questions/observations.

  1. Could you possibly create a icon to show progress of the creation or some way to know the progress of the model being created on Speckle?
  2. Is there a file size limitation on the free version?
  3. Can you use models from ACC and do you have to select each linked model separately?

I look for new products for my company and test them out to decide if they are worth an investment or not and I try to use the free/trial versions to do this testing. Could you contact me with more info on the limitations of the free version of Speckle.

The free plan allows you to have

  • Unlimited people in your workspace
  • Free Viewer-only members
  • 1 project
  • 5 models per workspace
  • 7-day version history
  • 7-day comment history
  • Automate beta access

So you can explore and try every aspect of Speckle.

Thank you for the response to the limitations but could you answer #3? Can you use models from an ACC site?

Hey @Cconley530,

Yes, models linked from acc will be sent if included in the send mode. Ensure that the Include Linked Models is enabled (this is by default set to True).

There are three send modes in Revit:

  • Selection - here you have to select each linked model instance that you want to have included in your send
  • Views - here you don’t need to select each linked model instance. If the linked model is visible in the selected view, it will be sent (in other words: the visible elements of the linked model(s) in the chosen view will be sent)
  • Categories - here you don’t need to select each linked model instance. The selected categories will apply to the linked models in the document.

Hope this helps!
