Revit Parts Visualisation In Speckle

Hey Specklers

Does anyone else use Revit parts? I use them ALOT when working with nested panels, which is on every single project I work on.

I was wondering if there is a better way to see the split lines in the default view? Currently they seem to have been meshed together visually, so it is not easy to interpret or communicate any queries on these.

Right - a filtered view to highlighted that her is indeed multiple panel

Argh, I’m afraid not without a huge amount of hassle from our end. @alex’s solution is screen space outlines (read more here: How Speckle Generates Outlines from Geometry Data) - pretty much the only effective compromise we’ve got in absence of a geometry kernel/sending a larger amount of data out (edges) that would be overall inconsistent across our connectors.

hey @dimitrie thanks for the reply, I see the rebuilding of the model visualisation is a complex topic! One that I am not so familiar with. Since reading the screen space outlines article, I also understood that I may not be able to dimension the parts/slab edges, which when checking is true.

I was wondering if there would be any support for seeing the edge lines in a meaningful way? Perhaps some way of integrating an option to use the three.js’s built-in [EdgesGeometry] method?

When I put myself in the shoes of the clients we work with, I can image they will have the same visualisation challenges and checking issues, which are essentially - no individualisation of the parts and no ability to dimension to the parts edges.

Do you have an example file unencumbered by IP and a Speckle project URL of the same -I’d like to take a look at something.

Hey @jonathon , yeah sure, I’ve dm’d you
