New Connector Request - Solibri

It would be awesome to have a speckle integration for solibri.

With solibri integration it opens up for clash detections, bcf manager, change of color on different 3D models, on/ off on different 3D models, grids, ifc comparing, easy sectioning and movable ifc when coordinates are different for different ifc’s.

Last time I check, Solibri only had a closed API, making it impossible for external developers to create plugins or us to make a connector for it.
Let me know if things have changed! If you have a direct connection, if you can always push the vendor to develop the connector or to give us access

I have now emailed solibri to ask them if they can open the API for you guys in the speckle team.

Hi. I received a email from solibri about speckle integration.

This is the answer from solibri. Is this enough to create a speckle integration?

"Here are our open API specification and documentation

https://solibri.github.io/Developer-Platform/

With the REST API you can automatically push IFC to Solibri if needed

https://solibri.github.io/Developer-Platform/latest/RestApiUsage.html

We can have a call to go your use case through and also involve Speckle into the conversation if they would like to know more about our APIs’.

Hi Joachim,

Thanks for this! The API seems a bit limited, but some sort of integration could be possible. The main problem is that being Java based it would require a substantial effort on our end to support it.

What workflows would you see happening between Speckle And Solibri?

Ah okei.

Is it a option to use speckle’s programming language to run the Java commands inside solibri’s API instead of converting between programming languages? Maybe ChatGPT 4.0 can do the heavy work of the converting side of it?

Just idea’s, I know you guys will find a good way to solve this.

The most important for us with a speckle/ solibri connector would be to send ifc file to solibri from speckle.
Second most important task would be to send ifc from solibri to speckle.

Before we tackle Solibri, we don’t currently export to IFC, so that would have to come first.

What’s interesting is that this is now theoretically possible for the community to tackle as an Automate function.

@jonathon
So what’s next?
Is the community working on this now right now to create a solibri connector?

No one I’m aware of.
