Welcome ! Have been using the web viewer for prototyping solutions to use cases in residential retail and a bit of DT applications . Happy to talk DM if you have any questions
Hi all, I’m Guru. It’s great to be here. Been quietly appreciating Speckle from the outside the last couple of years and have always admired the amazing work the community is doing for the industry.
I’m based out of Bangalore, India. Currently working on RegenBuild, aiming to build a decentralised, digital protocol for AECO to transition into a regenerative paradigm. Read our thesis if you are curious know more. I have a background in civil engineering and sustainability, with experiences in various roles over the last 6 years. I was previously a product and strategy lead at SD+.
As you can guess, I am passionate about working on climate solutions and the last couple of years have been eye opening for me since I realised how blockchain can be leveraged to solve the climate crisis in a systemic way. RegenBuild is an attempt to apply these concepts to bring about a fundamental change to how we approach sustainability by aligning incentives and enabling change to emerge in a bottom up way.
I believe Speckle has a critical role in this and I am grateful for all the progress made so far. I wouldn’t dare to attempt what I’m doing without Speckle’s existence I heard on the recent TRXL podcast episode that @dimitrie and @teocomi are yet to see killer apps built on Speckle, well this could be it!
On that note, I am looking for technical lead to get this project off the ground. My multiple attempts to learn coding have only taken me far enough to realise this cannot be treated as a hobby But I don’t plan to give up on it just yet!
Besides dreaming about solarpunk futures, I love being in nature and always up for an adventure. I’m a proud Liverpool FC supporter, like discovering new music and going to gigs, and forever curious to learn new things. As far as pets are concerned here’s my plant that has survived with me the longest (guilty being a bad plant dad ) and me hugging a tree (everyone should try this )
I am Jorge Beneitez, a Spanish architect and computational design enthusiast. I am a director and co-founder of enzyme apd, an architectural design studio, based in Hong Kong. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, love outdoor sports and water sports like hiking, and sailing. Me and my family also love travelling, meeting new cultures and eating great food!
We are avid users of technology, mainly Archicad and Grasshopper; and have started also our journey of contributors to the open-source community with the project tAPIr: A python/C++ plugin for Archicad and Grasshopper.
We also provide services to other architectural firms, engineers and contractors to implement BIM or computational workflows, helping them in their digital transformation journey.
I have been following Speckle with much interest for the past couple of years, using it in some small pilot experiments, but I am looking forward to start deploying it in some of our live projects.
Thank you to the Speckle team for this amazing contribution and to the community for your kind support and participation, and I look forward to learning more and discussing with all of you!
“Hello everyone, this is Valerio. I am an HVAC systems designer, with a background also in business and management. Today I work for a large HVAC design company as a BIM specialist/coordinator. I have been working for years especially with Revit and the MagiCAD plugin, implementing automatisms and methodologies for my team that save time and offer greater interoperability between project stakeholders. I recently discovered Speckle, while I was looking for new AI integration solutions in our processes, and I have to say I find the interconnectivity with the connectors very interesting, even though personally I still need to understand the potential of this application. I live and work in Switzerland where I speak Italian, a bit of French and little German, so please forgive me if I make mistakes in English…! In my free time I am dad to two wonderful children who I love and I also have a cat named Gastone, who does not like to be photographed and so unfortunately I was not able to bring you a photo of him (he hates paparazzi ). For me it is a pleasure to be able to participate in this forum, I hope that even if I am not as prepared as you all on software I can still provide interesting contributions and at the same time learn new topics that can help me carry on my work in the BIM field, which is also my great passion. See you soon!”
Hello there, I’m Railling from Mageplaza. I am a developer at Mageplaza with a passion for building and optimizing e-commerce solutions. With a strong foundation in programming languages and web technologies, I have dedicated significant time to grasp the essence of creating the best online shopping experiences for customers. I always aim to apply innovative and progressive ideas to my work, contributing to the continuous development of the e-commerce field.
I’m Chris Chan! I’m an architect working remotely from NYC & Hong Kong who has transitioned into a computational designer / BIM automation role. I’m currently at a startup called Juno where we’re trying to create a tech-enabled service that helps developers build more sustainably with a productized approach.
Over the past few years, I’ve been slowly creeping my way from pure visual scripting into building tools with python and am currently making the bigger leap into full-stack web dev. Been keeping an eye on all the amazing work that Speckle is doing for the industry and am excited to get some hands-on experience with it!
Hiii aww this introduction page is so wholesome <3
I’m Johanna or J! I’m a Designer and Drafter of Climbing Gyms at Vertical Solutions here in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. It’s a small production company that constructs climbing walls all over the US. This is my favorite wall I’ve designed at Benchmark Climbing :
:3
For the past 3 years at a beginner-intermediate level, I’ve been making automation tools for my coworkers, mostly in Grasshopper, mostly to break down our designs into production files or glean data for our Sales team. More recently I’ve been interested in learning Dynamo with Advance Steel and Revit to automate our steel production and drafting processes
At the moment, I’ve only used Speckle just to easily transfer text-data from a project’s design to our company’s production website, Sales spreadsheets, and Revit drawings, but I’m interested to see how else it can be useful to my company’s work!
@jonathon: Sadly this project was done way before we used Speckle . Our Head of Timber Engineering has a “side gig” as CEO of multiple German climbing gyms. The one from the post was one of his . Our Frankfurt parametric team with Ljuba (@ltascheva) went super funky with the walls. By revisiting the project, Nodepen in combination with Speckle would be a super nice addition to the workflow … or some Rhino.Inside Cadwork (and Speckle connection ).
@j-mcallister: Super impressive work . In case you are interested Ljuba (@ltascheva) and I are always open for exchange .
I am looking at using Speckle as a part of a project to take detailed CAD like information into a Unity application I have put together a tool to select and organise 3D and metadata (sort of a game like level builder but for actual things). Speckle looks perfect as the mechanism to import the 3D information.
I have built a DAtomic backend (using clojure) that talks to Unity via Kafka for the data side and initially just had a simple http server for the 3D assets. Speckle is a much better solution for the 3D info and I am exploring how to integrate it into unity.
Looking forward to playing around with Speckle as it seems like a great approach.
Hey Tony, I’ve been looking at using Unreal Engine as an asset builder in conjunction with Speckle – would be keen to know more about your Unity application if you’re interested in sharing? Let me know
I’m Paolo Colombo, a master student in Building Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in Italy.
The next year I will graduate!
I’m very into computational design since Grasshopper was presented to me first to make some Light Analysis using DIVA (from Solemma).
From there I studied it on my own, learning also Python and now I’m currently learning C#.
I play the guitar and I love to cook dessert (mainly cakes).
Hello Speckle Community!
My name is Bartek from Hannover in Germany. I am actually head of department for digitalization, sustainability and BIM in an AEC company.
The first time I heard about Speckle was in December last year (thanks @tim.hoffeller ) and I was immediately overwhelmed about the idea and possibilities. Now I am very excited to contribute to this enthusiastic community (to the best of my abilities.
Greetings!
Hey Everyone! I’m Jon; an architect, BIM Manager, and general nerd. I’ve been following Speckle for a while now, but have recently become very interested in extensible tooling that people have been sharing. I’m an open source advocate and really love the ideas behind these workflows.
