A. Currently, we don’t get notified if someone replies to a comment we made in Speckle unless the recipient tags the name of the comment author. I think it would make sense that you get notified whenever someone replies to your comment … and that everyone involved in the discussion gets notified too.
B. Ideally not just with a mail and a button you can click but with meaningful content as overview
The only extra complication here is letting users “unfollow” a thread after participating in it, in case they don’t want to be notified all the times.
Does BIMCollab offer the opportunity to do so?
This is all very good feedback (as always coming from you!), and we’ll likely incorporate it once we launch workspaces and focus on threads/comments and their associated rather huge potential for coordination.
cc @benjavo for visibility, as per the usual (even though you’re away on paternity leave!)
I’m starting to use Speckle with other teams, and notifications would help a lot to avoid sending emails just to remind them about new messages in Speckle.
New Model Version notifications to everyone involved in the previous version would also be a great feature.
Hey André. Thanks for your message! I’m happy to hear that you’re starting to use Speckle with other teams. If you have other feedback from that experience please shout :).
Notifications are on the roadmap. I can’t promise exactly when but we’re very aware that it would make discussions and other collaboration aspects of Speckle easier. So it’s something we want to prioritize soon.
Interesting idea to have some sort of notification for when new model versions are pushed. What exactly do you mean by “everyone involved in the previous version”?
At the moment, the other team is only reviewing the 3D model I’m working on through messages (and images). They are waiting for a connector for Inventor/Fusion360/SolidWorks so they can share their work as well ;).
My idea with “everyone involved in the previous version” is to notify all users who commented on the previous version, as well as the assigned collaborators.
