Hi,
I am looking for the possibility to send the model from Archicad in autosend mode, so with any change in Archicad we can receive it automatically in Speckle, instead of selecting everything again and fix the windows selection and send it in Speckle.
We have it in Grasshopper connector components but i couldnt manage to find any option about it in Archicad connector. Is there any opinion about it?
Automatic send is a quite controversial feature, if misused in can end up creating a lot of unnecessary model versions. In our expereince most people prefer to explicitely decide when new updates are published.
Could you explain your workflow more in detail and why a manual “publish” step is not needed?
This doesn’t currently exist in the v2 connectors, but it is a potential consideration for the next-generation connectors, but in a different form than you are probably considering.
ArchiCAD is now firmly on the next-gen roadmap.
Of course, how it gets implemented will be a careful balance. As @teocomi describes, why do you see this as helpful?
Hi @teocomi and @jonathon .Thanks for your answers. I am just thinking if we run for example some analysis with the model that we get from ArchiCAD, it could be updated when we do some changes in ArchiCAD instead of selecting everything all elements and then selecting windows and then ‘send’.
But I think as you mentioned now, maybe it can be problematic with huge number of changes and not having send can be smart in that case. But again maybe we can just decide when the user turn on automatic change in ArchiCAD or turn it off as we have in Grasshopper. Sometimes we just want to make windows bigger or smaller then see the results of some calculations be updated in grasshopper for example.
