I’m running into this error all of a sudden. several of my PowerBI files give this error and doesn’t refresh, practically having me restart from scratch.
The column that ‘disappears’ is usually an expanded column.
Could you give more info? Which version of Power BI connector that you have been using? And supporting screenshots would be nice to understand the error.
It happened both with 3.4.1 and 3.4.3. The column name shows up on the main powerbi window, but when I try to refresh and/or “edit Query” I get the above message, and query fails to load as it can’t find the column in the query table.
When/if I run into the issue again, I will update with screen captures.
This is a Power BI error. It typically occurs when a formula, query, or data transformation references a column that doesn’t actually exist in the table.
Possibly a misspelled column name issue. If you can share the Power BI report, we’d be happy to help if it’s something we can fix on our end.
That’s the confusing part. it is always an expanded column in the original data table. the column name, regardless of how it’s spelled appears in the main PowerBI window, but it can’t ‘find’ it once/if I right click and select “Edit Query”.
Unfortunately, as it seems an irrecoverable error, I’ve had to delete the expanded table and duplicate another one from the original data table that I keep in its raw/unprocessed form in my PowerBI reports. If I encounter the issue again, I will upload/send the report for inspection.
I’m still investigating, but I think I may have figured it out. it looks like the person reponsible for this Revit file has converted everything to “parts”, which removes the parameter that specific column hosts.
