Uploading CAD to model does not work

I have tried to upload various CAD files to a model, both DWG and DXF and so far I have not found a single one that will work and I wonder if you could provide a working example so I can test this feature?

Hey @MaxT ,

I’m looking into this now.

Hey @MaxT ,

I just tried uploading a file and they seem to process now. Can you try again and confirm if it works as expected?

It is still processing upload after 30 minutes. The DWG opens without warnings in TrueView and is quite small.

Hey @MaxT ,

It seems you are using speckle.xyz. app.speckle.systems is the maintained server. Can you try uploading same files to this server? Because i downloaded DXF drawing and was able to upload it swiftly.

That did not help and I can not delete the old one.

@MaxT , we’re looking into this.

@MaxT ,

We merged a fix for this issue (hopefully). Can you try again and confirm if the fix worked for you?

Thanks a lot down it works fine. Still, I can not load the stream into Blender, or at least it takes a very long time, even for a small model.

Let me check what’s going on. Might be a blender converter issue.

Import of DWG into Blender seems to work but it is very slow and quite a lot of data is lost, for example layers, blocks and color.

Hi @MaxT

I think internally we’ve found several limitations of the DWG importer.
However, I was expecting layers and blocks to work.

Inspecting the file one the model on the project you linked in linked, I do see at least some layers and some blocks in the imported Speckle model.

So I’m curious, are there missing layers? or is the structure not in a form you expected?

I think the Speckle import works quite well. The problem is when I import the stream into Speckle I loose blocks and colors and they are very much needed.
