Speckle is causing Revit to close unexpectedly

Hello,

I’m experiencing severe issues with Speckle, causing Revit to close unexpectedly.

I’ve already uninstalled the Connector, and I can work without any issues. However, when I install Speckle, the problems start occurring. This behavior has been observed multiple times — uninstalling Speckle resolves the issues, while having it installed leads to serious crashes where Revit simply closes without any recovery option.

Attached are the files obtained under “View error details”:

By the way, I have a colleague experiencing the same behavior.

Revit Version: 2025.4 (also happened with 2025.3)
Speckle Connector Version: speckle.revit.installer-3.0.0-beta.214

Thanks

Hi @amagro,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Do you happen to have v2 connectors installed? We encountered a similar issue with v2 connectors, and I suspect that might be the cause of the crash. We worked hard to avoid repeating this problem in v3, and I haven’t experienced that issue so far.

  • Does the crash occur when you switch between different documents multiple times?
  • Are you able to provide any steps to reproduce the issue?

Any additional information you can provide will help us resolve this matter. I will install the latest update of 2025 and try to reproduce the issue on my end, as it’s a very serious concern.

Hello @gokermu,

No, I don’t have any v2 connectors installed, but I do have the Manager for Speckle (v2.14.4) installed.

The crash occurs in a very simple way, such as placing a wall, making a connection, etc., without switching between documents.

I can privately share the current project where I’m experiencing these issues, so you can try to reproduce them.

That would be really helpful. Please send a DM with a link to the file.

Also, it would be helpful if you can share what other plugins are installed?

Hey @amagro ,

Thanks for sharing the file. I can’t seem to reproduce the error. I have tried installing the plugins you have but failed to install pyRevit on Revit 2025.4. I’ll keep you posted if we have any update.

You need to install the WIP version

@amagro, i’ve also been trying to reproduce the issue, but if you remember by screwed install of revit 2025 got in the way. I’m reinstalling it now to be able to test more.

We’ve also in the meantime just pushed a new beta release out just now - there is a chance it might solve the issue, so if you have time, do give it a go! (beta xxxx. 215)
