Are there any plans to add more functionality to the section box in the web app.
It would be really valuable to be able to rotate for example. Equally if it were up to me I would prefer to have both movement handles for the whole box and individual handles which move just one face of the box.
Here is an example of a couple of Revit files linked by shared coordinates. The project coordinates are sqaure to the model, but in order to combine the models survey coordinates are used.
I really wanted that feature too since a long time, we’ve never had time to priortise. I’m not entirely sure our current implementation will make it easy - @alex will be the judge of that
Thank you @dimitrie I know the pressure to work on the advanced functions must be constant. Great to hear you’re still thinking about improving the interface though.
This is very useful for non-orthogonal, curved or rotated floorplans (e.g. historic monuments in my use case), where nothing is exactly perpendicular, even though the model is kept to orthogonal and aligned as close to the WCS as possible.
+1 for the original problem statement, federated models are almost always requested in another coordinate system than the building’s, rotating the section box or applying the clipping plane on a specific face is essential for efficient review meetings and QAQC workflows.
Agreed, cc’ing @benjavo for visibility. We’ve heard this before, and we’ve seen it as well in many other apps.
We don’t have a timeline for this yet, but there’s the ambition to start on a bunch of new viewer features in the new year and ship some by end of March.
If there’s appetite to contribute this to the OSS speckle world, we’d be happy!
