Currently in my company we are trying to implement Speckle into our Structural design phase, so we are using the sap2000 and revit connector.
Into the process of trying the sap 2000 connector, we tested it sending a simple model from sap2000 (That have already assigned some custom profiles to the beams and columns) and receiving it in Revit. The problem that we have is that we map the profiles that comes from sap2000 with our beams/columns families, the model displayed in revit is only a Generic model
I would like to know if i’m missing some steps or which is the proper way to receive models from sap2000 and send models from revit to SAP2000. I searched some tutorials on youtube but i didn’t find anything.
thanks for posting your question and welcome to the community!
Our focus has primarily been ETABS, where this workflow is behaving as expected. I was able to reproduce your issue on my end and for clarity: frame elements coming in as generic models is not expected behaviour. I’ll have to look at this a bit deeper and get back to you!
Some enhancements for sending from SAP 2000 and receiving in Revit have been merged here. With these changes, native frame elements will be received in Revit and not the generic models.
Once these changes are available through manager I’ll let you know. Thanks for posting this question on the community forum!
Today i tested again the sap connector and worked fine. At the moment of import the sap2000 model to revit they create the analytical and graphic model and also do the correct map of the beams and columns, so its ok!
I will continue testing the workflow between both software btw. but in general terms its working fine.
