I may be missing a setting, but I can’t find a way in Speckle to receive geometry from Revit into Rhino as solids. All I can seem to import are meshes. Is there a way to do this?
Hi there, welcome! That’s because - so far - we haven’t found a good way (fast) to extract revit solid data in a way that suits speckle (for example, we’d still need to extract the mesh of said solid to be able to display it in our viewer).
So it’s been a rather pragmatic decision from our end, and it’s served us well so far. A workaround is to “merge all coplanar faces” and then generate a brep from the result.
We’re curious though, what is workflow like? What are you sending from revit to rhino and why?
Thanks for the info! That makes sense. We are using it primarily for general interoperability.
We’re doing an installation in a new building designed by another firm that sent us their Revit model. We’ll do a similar process for feature elements better modeled in Rhino/GH. We’ve mainly been using Rhino Inside Revit, but sometimes have issues with incomplete transfers from Revit to Rhino.
that might be because of the whole imperfect solid world that this flow needs to operate in; meshes, for good or for worse, are more reliable, even though less “snappable”. How does this affect your workflow when using Speckle? Does it make it unusable?
