PowerBI Permission Denied Error

Hi speckle community,

I am trying to use the speckle viewer in PowerBI. I have reviewed some of the posts in the community forums and haven’t been able to find a solution that works yet. I have tried checking that I have the correct permissions to view the model in Speckle (it is set to public and I am the admin of the model), I have also made sure to install the latest PowerBI connector and make sure to sign in, yet I am still getting the “Permission denied: You do not have access to the project (Error code: ProjectNoAccess)”.

I have tried to see if I need to sign in as a different user because I have two speckle accounts (personal and work), but every time I try to sign in as a different user in the speckle PowerBI connector it automatically signs back into the user that it was already signed in as and it doesn’t provide me any opportunity to try and sign in as a different user!

Thank you in advance to anyone who might have some light to shed on this issue.

Hey rvida,

You need to clear the authentication in Power BI browser. Here’s how you can do that:

@gokermu thank you for the response. I hadn’t tried those steps before. I tried them now and deleted 3 of the 4 items (I couldn’t find a “CEF folder”) that it said to delete from: “C:\Users%USERNAME%\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App”.

But even after doing that, when I went back in to PowerBI to re-authenticate it somehow still went ahead and signed in without any chance to change users. I then tried again after deleting the “ExtensionCache” folder and it still didn’t work.

I’ve attached a screenshot of all folders I have in that folder and marked the ones I’ve already tried deleting. Is there anything else I should try? Thanks!

Hey @rvida ,

Can you delete everything in that folder and try loading again?

Eureka! It finally worked! I was able to login with the correct username and load the data from the speckle model. Thanks @gokermu !
