Power Bi - Access to the resource is forbidden

I am getting following error when trying to connect to the power bi model.
“Access to the resource is forbidden” I have recently updated my connectors to the latest generation and moved project to new workspace on the paid version. Project has access set to Public so not sure why I am to be able to connect ?

Hi @Maciej_Sochacki,

By any chance you are not an Editor in your workspace?

Hi,
I am editor and admin of the workspace and owner of the project.
The connector below - I think that is the latest but it does not really give me an opportunity to sign in with credentials or anything just the error.

Hi Maciej,

Which Power BI version do you use? It usually happens in older Power BI versions. After updating, cleaning permissions using File > Options and Settings > Data Source Settings > Global Permissions > Clear Permission and signing in again might help.

Hi @Maciej_Sochacki ,

This is a browser related issue. You can get rid of the error by going to File > Options and settings > Options > Security and under “Authentication Browser”, uncheck “Use my default web browser”.

Morning @gokermu and @dogukan ,
Thank you both for prompt replies. Clearing old permissions has worked and I am able to connect :blue_square: !

Hi guys ,
After making few tests with the new power bi connector / visual sadly i run into few issues. I could not quite control / override model colours, mass objects were coming transparent as default and generally it felt like performance was slower than previous one. Data structure seems slightly different as well with the new connector so it is not as easy swap from previous query to new one.

I reverted back to the previous legacy connector for now.

Few questions:
Is the power bi new generation connector and visual still in development / beta version ? Is it possible to have both v2 and v3 installed at the same time? Is there a more detailed guide in terms of transition and what is changing?

Hey @Maciej_Sochacki ,

We’re about to release a next-gen Power BI connector and resolve several issues related to zooming, ghosted models, coloring, branding, etc.

Sad to hear that. Are you talking about the issues with the new Revit connector or Power BI? In our tests, we found that the next-gen 3D visual is way faster!

Only next-gen Power BI connector is in active development.

If you’re looking to use the old 3D visual, I think you can have both of them open at the same time. But, I’m not totally sure if you can use the data connectors at the same time. The current data connector is built on the old one, so a lot of things are pretty similar. That means you can load old models with the new Power BI data connector. Just a heads up, though—the old 3D visual needs a Model URL input, which you can easily add in Power Query yourself.

PS. I’d be happy to jump on a call to discuss if you want to expand on this.
