Point cloud support

Do you have a porint cloud support? Maybe you can make a connector/converter from las, laz ,e57 to potree?
Do you have plans about it?

Hey @Jorge_Aguilar - potree is its own viewer, with its own dedicated infrastructure specifically geared towards multi-gb pointcloud support. It’s amazing tech, but perpendicular to what our viewer is currently optimised for (big bim-like models). It’s unlikely we’ll ever achieve potree’s performance in respect to point clouds!

That said, we’ve seen decimated pointclouds coming into Speckle from applications such as Revit, Rhino and Blender!

Hi @dimitrie , thanks for your quick answer.
Maybe you can make a connector to cloud compare with various regulations, (for example the decimation) but open the possibility of entering point clouds without going through revit blender or rhino, because after all, the clouds are external inputs! I think this would facilitate their use and integration in the AEC environment.

That’s a very good feature request! We’re looking at expanding our “headless” importer capabilities, so I’ll add this to the list. We’re looking first to rely on what Rhino can import first, but this might be an easy win regardless!

Thanks @dimitrie and good luck with the implementation, I hope it will be an easy win!
