Parameter Updater - Plans For v3 Connectors?

Hi Speckle!

I’ve heard that on SpeckleCon someone mentioned the plan to integrate the parameter updater functionality also into the v3 connectors.

Is this still on the agenda? :blue_heart:

I am still convinced, this would be a great feature to start interacting with Speckle models on the data-level (in both directions (as in v2 (for Revit))). Especially for any custom tools and workflows.

Would love to hear from you!

Cheers,
Steffen

Hi @samberger,

Rumors are correct!
We are working on it right now, and would you be interested in following up with you once we have something testable to get your feedback?

Yesss!! Super nice!

@oguzhan

Of course, I/we would love to test!!

Would this be a general feature for all connectors? We would be mainly interessted in Revit, but also in Rhino.

Currently, the missing parameter updater feature is our reason that we can’t upgrade from using v2 connectors for a couple of workflows. It would be great to finally do this, to also enjoy all the other new features!

Initial pass will be with Revit. Just a heads-up :backhand_index_pointing_right: we do not expect any Excel involvement here as in v2. Mostly updating over web app or Speckle Intelligence.

That’s perfectly fine! We are talking about the same ‘updater’.

Excel can do a lot, but not everything!

If over web app, is this something that will be available in self-hosted deployments/will it be EE licensed?

@tycecycle The Parameter Updater functionality would be part of the connectors.
So it shouldn’t have much to do with the kind of server.

Its availability for self-servers is not defined yet. The feature is not only tied to connectors. The update functionality will be on the web app, it might happen behind the feature flag. Well, @tycecycle I don’t have clear answer for now.

thanks @oguzhan. 1 vote for making available in self-hosted servers. We had/have plans to build something like this as a workaround, but would love to use a native solution.
