I am using next gen (3.1.0) revit and powerbi connectors, and can view the uploaded model on the web.
However, if I use the last gen visualizer (3.0.0-beta.74, or beta.65 for that matter), visualization stays in the loading phase without loading the model view. At first, I thought it might just be taking long, but after waiting 2+ hours, I’m ready to throw in the towel.
If I roll back to version 2.20.1 visualizer, model update takes mere seconds. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
By any chance you get the data via old data connector but trying to load with new visual? If this is the case it won’t work. If you could share video or screenshots, it can help us to understand.
@oguzhan, I thought the same thing at first, so I uninstalled all connectors, installed v3.x.x connectors for PBI and Revit, uploaded through Revit and then restarted PowerBI Desktop. Is there a way to check the connector the model was exported/uploaded with in the “Projects” folder?
On monday (if I can’t do it on the weekend), I’ll start fresh with a completely different Revit model and test again.
First, let’s check if you have only the Next-Gen Power BI connector installed.
Navigate to Documents > Power BI Desktop > Custom Connectors.
Ensure that there is only the file named Spekcle.pqx and that it has an up-to-date created or modified date.
Next, let’s clean up your data source settings:
Go to Options and Settings > Data Source Settings.
Under Global Permissions, remove all permissions related to Speckle (e.g., app.speckle.systems).
Now, let’s check if the Speckle Desktop Service is installed:
Open Installed Apps.
Search for “Speckle” and confirm that the Speckle Desktop Service is installed. (It is installed alongside the Power BI connector; they are bundled together.)
Next, let’s verify if the Desktop Service is running:
Open Task Manager.
Search for “Speckle.”
Make sure that the Speckle Desktop Service is running.
The Desktop Service fetches data from the server and serves it to the 3D visual, which then visualizes the data. If it’s not running, that could be why the visualization isn’t working.
Sorry for the delay, I am traveling for work and getting back in front of the computer proves difficult from time to time.
To test things out, I started a new project, verified I have the 3.1.0 Revit Connector, I’m trying to publish without success. I am looking for tutorials on new version, but can’t find them.
To test it out, I opened the previous revit model, and tried publishing it to another Speckle ‘project’ and it’s not working either.
Is there a way for me to figure out which version of Speckle connector was used to publish a revit model?
I have verified on two different computers that the connectors are 'last modified" on March/21/25, (and March 27th), Speckle Desktop Service is showing up under installed apps, and Speckle Desktop Services is listed under “background apps”
Should I go ahead and add speckle under global permissions?
