Improvement of IFC Data in Power BI

The current implementation of IFC data in Power BI is not user-friendly. The data is structured like a chain, requiring users to unpack it repeatedly. This makes the model slow and difficult to navigate.

Additionally, finding specific information is challenging because the structure is not intuitive. A better data structure would significantly improve usability. For example, take a look at Autodesk Exchange—adopting a similar structure would already be a huge improvement.

This issue has existed for over a year now, and I hope it will be resolved soon. Without a well-structured dataset, few companies will be able to effectively use this application for this purpose.

Hi @ra181ra,

We are improving the structure of our data from different host applications. This enhancement is part of the next-gen connectors. Check it out!

Hey @ra181ra ,

We released a new IFC importer, which structures properties much more user friendly now. Check it out:

Also, our Power BI connector now automatically extracts properties and formats them so it’s easier than ever to extract any property you want. We’ve also added helper functions for interacting with properties. Check out Power BI announcement here:

I hope these improvements answer your query.
