Is anyone familiar with publishing Archicad projects using a defined Project Base Point (PBP) and Project North?
We have a workflow where we’re trying to coordinate Revit engineering models with an Archicad architectural model. In Revit, we use a defined Project Base Point and Project North.
I’m wondering if there’s a clean way to achieve the same setup in Archicad.
The reason I’m exploring this workflow is that all of our engineering models originate from Revit and already have a defined Project Base Point and Project North incorporated into the model setup. It would be great if the architectural model could follow the same structure. One of the benefits would be having the ViewCube in Speckle aligned with the project orientation rather than an arbitrary model orientation.
In addition, we have automated exports running from ACC to Speckle. Since these Revit models already contain a properly defined site and coordinate system, it seems most logical for the Archicad model to follow the same approach. We’re currently coordinating seven engineering models and one architectural model, so maintaining a common coordinate framework is important.
Has anyone dealt with this before or found a good workaround?
I’m not familiar with Archicad myself, so I’m reaching out to the more experienced ArchicadxSpeckle users out there for guidance.
Of course, one option is to link IFC exports into Revit using Orient to Project North and export the arch model from Revit, but that doesn’t feel like the most elegant solution. Ideally, I’d like to keep control of the positioning and orientation directly from the Archicad model rather than relying on a Revit-based workaround.
Any tips, experiences, or best practices would be greatly appreciated!
