We want to give you as much notice as possible: when we ship support for Revit 2027, we will be dropping support for Revit 2022 from the Speckle connector.
We know some of you are still running it in production. But a few things have made it increasingly difficult to keep supporting it alongside newer versions.
Revit 2022 sits on a fundamentally different tech stack. It ships with CefSharp 65 (a 2018-era embedded browser engine) while Revit 2023 moved to CefSharp 92 (2021). That gap is why the Speckle connector UI looks different in Revit 2022 compared to newer versions. Bridging it means maintaining separate code paths for different browser generations, on top of already divergent API surfaces.
Maintenance overhead is growing. As we invest in new features, stability improvements, and performance work across the connector, the cost of backporting or validating those changes for Revit 2022 becomes harder to justify. We’d rather ship better things faster for the versions most of our users are on.
Revit 2022 has reached end-of-life with Autodesk as well. It no longer receives security patches or API updates from Autodesk, which means staying on it carries its own risks independent of Speckle.
What this means for you
If you’re on Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026, nothing changes.
If you’re on Revit 2022, the current Speckle connector will continue to work as-is. We’re not removing anything retroactively. You just won’t receive new features or fixes for that version going forward once the 2027 connector ships.
We’d strongly recommend planning an upgrade to a newer Revit version if your workflow allows it.
We’ll share more details on the Revit 2027 connector timeline closer to release.
Following on from @gokermu’s announcement about Speckle ending support for the Revit 2022 connector to align with adding support for Revit 2027
We would also like to announce we plan on ending support for our AutoCAD 2022 and Civil3D 2022 connectors. Again, to align with when we add support for 2027 versions.
For the same reasons @gokermu has already mentioned; There is a maintain burden for us to increase the number of versions we support, particularly when that includes versions that have reached “end of life” within Autodesk.

If you’re using AutoCAD or Civil 3D versions 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026, nothing changes.

We still don’t have a release date for 2027 connectors.
But tentatively, we are aiming for end of May. More updates will be shared once we have a proper release timeline.
