Objective: Trying to work with very large IFC data files.
-
Issue: We signed up to the paid version of the workspaces, but get the 100mb limit there too.
-
Example:
Hi @Harsh_Singh, currently we don’t offer a higher upload limit because of the reliability of our IFC parser, which is flaky. It’s half the standard’s fault, half the engine’s and half our shitty code. We’re just not there yet!
We’ve debated this quite a bit, but the truth is that until we can offer better quality of IFC file parsing, we don’t want to “sell it”.
I hope this makes sense!
PS: if you want to contribute your files to our internal testing pool, let us know. We’d be happy to have more to benchmark against!
Fair enough, thanks for letting us know @dimitrie . We will keep looking for a way. Appreciate it.
Client files unfortunately, can’t share.
Hi, I have been bumping up against this 100MB limit too. I appreciate @dimitrie explanation of the situation.
But I thought it’s worthwhile stating that I too, would have a need to process large IFC files. For example, right now we have a project starting in an existing shopping mall. The 3d info that we have received from the client is an IFC of the whole mall, which is almost 600MB. It would be great to get this into Speckle.
Thanks for the feedback! We’re rolling out a new parser literally as we speak (team is cooking up the community announcement), and once we build confidence that works as advertised, it will be an immediate next step.
Would you be willing to (confidentially) share that file with us so we can put it through the gauntlet and see what comes up?
