Unlimited Projects & Models Add-on Plan

Looking at the October’s improvements and fixes page on the Speckle website, I noticed the item:

Got rid of the Unlimited projects and models add-on from the Starter and Business plans. If you wish to upload unlimited data, reach out.

We are currently subscribed with multiple seats to the Speckle Starter plan with the Unlimited upgrade and are meaningfully incorporating Speckle into our data infrastructure. We need assurance that the service we are investing in is going to be dependable and consistent.

  • Is this going to affect us as members with this plan?
  • Will we be able to renew our current plan once our year subscription lapses?
  • Are our rates going to increase to maintain this plan or will we need to get the business plan / negotiate pricing directly?
  • Will Speckle’s pricing model continue to change in the foreseeable future?

Yes, this is quite the change to make under the radar. we have an unlimited plan and we were never notified of this change.

To be clear, this recent change only affects new plans moving forward. Your current unlimited plan remains unchanged, which is why we haven’t sent broader communications yet. We should have been clearer about that distinction from the start, and I apologize for the confusion.

As Speckle adoption has grown significantly, we need to balance supporting that growth with managing our operational costs sustainably, which is the driving factor behind removing the unlimited add-on option to new subscribers.

Looking ahead, our pricing will evolve as we add new capabilities like direct CDE integrations and Speckle Intelligence. We’re committed to transparency about these changes and will communicate well in advance so you can plan accordingly.

Can you please further clarify whether existing customers will be able to renew with their unlimited plan, or does Speckle intend to take it away come renewal time?

Yes, happy to provide more clarity here! I can assure you that you’ll be able to renew your unlimited plan when it comes up for renewal. While some future features won’t be available on legacy plans, we’ll keep you in the loop with more details as soon as we have them.
