Highlighted walls overlap. One of them may be ignored when Revit finds room boundaries. Use Cut Geometry to embed one wall within the other.

This is the problem I get when I try to import to Revit from another Revit file

Always Revit 2020 is used.
The language that was sent in was in Italian. Not sure if it matters. I tried to import it to both English and Italian versions of Revit but still had the same problem.

Apologies that the error message is not helpful (we’ll improve it!), what it’s saying is that the document in which you are receiving from Speckle does not have the required families and types.

So, just make sure to load all the required families and types before receiving and it should go away!

Let me know if not, and we’ll be happy to investigate.

Thank you for the response.

I have assumed the same problem would be the case but when I try to
1-open the original file that sends data to Speckle
2-remove the all elements in it (this way its for sure that families and types exist in the file since they were there a second ago)
3-try to receive from stream

I still get some errors such as this :

Skipped object of type System.String, not supported.
Missing type. Family: Muro di base Type: cordolo 40x40 cm
Type was replaced with: Basic Wall, Generico - 30 cm

That’s because we’re not fully supporting every element just yet when receiving back in Revit. This is partly due to the fact we haven’t yet written conversion routines, or because it’s not possible from the Revit API.

To explain your errors a bit more:

  • Skipped object of type System.String, not supported. => this element type is not supported yet by Speckle
  • Missing type. Family: Muro di base Type: cordolo 40x40 cm, Type was replaced with: Basic Wall, Generico - 30 cm => the family existed but not the type, so it’s been replaced with another form the same category

I would love it if there was a distinction between errors and work-in-progress. It is much more reassuring to read a warning that this or that function is not failing - it simply hasn’t been implemented. This way I do not feel that speckle is an unstable and unreliable product, it’s just not 100% finished yet. I can then quickly get informed about what works and what doesn’t and go to the forum to hear suggested workarounds.

It’s also a great opportunity to encourage people to get involved with supporting the project.
