Early Needs and Wants

Hi All -
I’m very excited about this new functionality and removing the need for Power BI (unlike @Anastasia Power BI is not in my wheelhouse…). I’ve got a couple early use cases, and have started compiling a list of functionality that would make the usability more intuitive, flexible, or otherwise feel “right.” I’m sure much of it is in development, but I want to put it out there for conversation and feedback.

  1. Canvas
    a. Multiple pages/tabs within one dashboard (ie break out schemes per page)
  2. Nodes
    a. Model Viewer
    i. Synchronized rotating/panning across multiple (2+) schemes
ii. Overlay multiple models atop one another, without vertical slider
    b. Dual Viewer
    i. Ability to have reference underlay model (ie site model stays consistent with two schemes being viewed)
  3. UI
    a. Color assignment by model (color continuity across entire dashboard - i see Color Themes but it doesn’t work as I’d expect)
    b. Custom formulas/expressions (ie Length parameter x Unit Cost = Total Cost)
    c. Ability to add fixed parameters (again, like a unit cost, which could be edited and refresh across the canvas in realtime)
  4. Formatting
    a. Assign decimal count and rounding (ie 3, 3.1, 3.12, etc)
    b. Number formatting ($, lf, sf, cf, m, cm, mm, etc)
    c. Other typical (excel/sheets) standard formatting

I’m sure there is plenty more, and again, assume some of this is in development. Happy to share more as I come across. Thanks again Dev team!

one more thought:

It would be great to pre-populate all the desired analyses/tables/etc but then have the ability to optionally disable visibility of certain ones, so as not to have to scroll across a variety of tables/nodes. For example, on initial screen load a full report of design options is available, but I can then filter down to only reviewing the cost-related nodes, or can filter down to only the nodes that deal with superstructure, specific materials, unit types, etc. I could see this operating similar to typical online shopping UIs, with a filter panel on the top/left that allows for narrowing down of the content on the page.
