Thanks to all 37+ of you for coming, and the feedback! As a reminder, we’re always keen to hear it

As a tl;dr of some of the main issues/enhancements/discussion points that came across (and that I managed to jot down):

Find a way to do mapping between elements, at least on some specific workflows

On this one, we’d be keen to see any mapping tables examples you might have, and do share with us specific workflow examples. We’ll try to generalise in a speckle-wide implementation!

Better/friendlier object explorer (in the online 3D viewer)

This is something that’s been bugging us since a while, so we’ll make it happen

FME Usecases

@jonathon has an alpha FME connector ready to go - and would be happy to talk shop with some actual FME users - so poke him, or join the discussion in the FME thread!

ArcGIS Support

@Kateryna posted a survey - before we get started on development, it would really help if you fill it up

30 people, 300+ Pikachus and a pig, what a turnout!

With all the head bobbing and the beatboxing, it was an eventful hour to say the least.

Thank you to all the 30 attendees for making it so great, and a special shoutout to @haitheredavid and @jonathon for introducing us to Speckle tennis.

To further help with your fomo, we are dropping the standup highlights below:

1. Highlighted features of the new Speckle 2.7 release (DXF mesh imports, 3D comment attachments, etc)
2. New team members introduction @Christian @iainsproat
3. New Speckle Manager is here (make sure to update)
4. All the cool features that we are currently working on (New ArcGIS connector, PowerBI Speckle Viewer, 3D Viewer improvements, etc)
5. How @jonathon caught all the Pikachus from the Second Community Challenge by hijacking the server (Check it out)
6. The showstopping Speckle Tennis Stream started by @haitheredavid and @jonathon. More to come on that topic shortly

Regarding the ArcGIS Connector (slide Community Standup #13- August 2022 - Google Slides), we have a big project coming up that is interested to connect Speckle with ESRI. They would like to know if they could use the ArcGIS connector in their project so could someone shed light on what the plans are? The time frame? Which element types will be initially supported?

Hi, sure! Right now alpha is on the way (will ping you when it’s available), and beta planned by the end of September. Sender already supports Point, Multipoint, Polyline & Polygon and receiver only works with GIS to GIS exchange. In the plan for beta: to support Raster layers, receiving CAD&BIM data, adapt Spatial Reference for sending/receiving in CAD coordinate system (like QGIS connector does), support colors and symbology (GIS to GIS). Would be happy to hear any particular requests for your upcoming project!

Alpha 0.2.0 is out! It will install ArcGIS Speckle connector as a Speckle Toolbox in Geoprocessing tools.
As you can imagine, many things are still not working very smooth, but basic send-receive of most geometry types are supported. Really looking forward to the feedback and bug reports!
P.S. “SpeckleWarning: Invalid units” might show up upon receiving, please ignore it for now.
